CR Marine Tech was founded by Travis Clayton, a lifelong mechanic and marine technician based in Campbell River on Vancouver Island. What started as a clear gap in local marine service has grown into a trusted, mobile repair business focused on straightforward work and honest communication.
After years working hands-on as both a technician and a service advisor, Travis saw the same frustrations come up again and again. Boat owners wanted reliable service, clear explanations, and someone they could deal with directly. CR Marine Tech was built around those priorities, offering mobile marine repair that comes to the boat and keeps customers informed every step of the way.
Travis has been working with engines and mechanical systems since a young age and brings both real-world experience and formal training to every job. He completed Level 1 and Level 2 of the Marine Mechanical Technician apprenticeship program at BCIT’s Annacis Island campus, with training across engines, drive systems, electrical, and hydraulics. That foundation ensures work is done properly, safely, and to industry standards.
Whether it’s routine maintenance, troubleshooting an electrical issue, seasonal preparation, or a larger repair, Travis approaches every service call the same way: with care, transparency, and respect for the boat and its owner. The goal is simple. Keep your boat reliable, keep you informed, and get you back on the water with confidence.
If you have a question, are planning routine maintenance, or need help with a specific issue, CR Marine Tech is here to help. Get in touch to talk through your boat’s needs and discuss next steps.
